It’s snowing. John is walking fast to get back home. He wasn’t prepared for a snowy evening. He crosses his neighborhood store when he sees a sign — “40% off for Coca Cola”. He loves the drink but is he going to stop now?

It’s a sunny day. John is sweating like crazy. He had to walk uphill for the last 30 minutes. He doesn’t remember when was the last time he felt this thirsty. He sees a small store that is selling. The store owner sees him and understands he is in pain. He asks for 50% extra for…

100% control and predictability are never possible. But you can take some cues from my story to feel in control

Photo by Alessio Lin on Unsplash

There was a time when my life was predictable. I used to wake up at 5 in the morning, jog & exercise for 40 minutes, have breakfast sharp at 7.30, and play basketball or volleyball for 50 minutes in the evening.

I had to do all these because I was part of a semi-military boarding school named Mirzapur Cadet College. Did I always like it? No, I did not. But this disciplined routine had its benefits.

I was fitter, more focused, and felt in control.

Over the years, I have gone through patches when I felt nothing but lost. Bad…

Which MRT should I take to go to Esplanade?

The Yellow line should take you there. You can follow me, I am taking the same route too.

Thank you, are you going to Esplanade as well?

No, I am going to Marina Bay.

Great! I love MRT, they are so fast and easy to use.

Yeah, they are a blessing. What’s taking you to Esplanade? Are you going to catch a music show?

Not really, I love the ambiance. I like taking a book and reading it by the bay in the amphitheater.

Really! Wow, I have never heard of…

Image of Author during Graduation day

It was a slow weekend afternoon in 2014.

I was contemplating which business schools I should pursue.

I was going through articles & YouTube videos to learn more about the schools and the MBA experience.

INSEAD was one of the schools that I kept hearing about for a long time. But I was kind of daunted by the prospect.

What chance did I have of getting into one of the top & elite schools in the world?

But hey, you miss all the shots you don’t take, right? So, I had to give it a shot. And I followed the…

Over the last couple of years, Apple has launched 3 iPhones per year. Every phone is better than the last one. Although, we don’t do much extra with them. Some of us use social media, apps, listen to music, watch movies, record videos, and take pictures.

The previous versions of the iPhone can do that too! My OnePlus 8 takes so good pictures that I am in love with my photography skills. On the new iPhone, I am sure my apps like YouTube, Medium, Fitbit, Google Sheets, and others will work the same way they do on my current phone.

Money has a tendency of vanishing.

One day you have it in your wallet, or bank account and the next day it’s gone.

It’s also a bit tricky to manage. Surprisingly, our schools don’t teach us anything on this. I wonder If I would benefit from personal finance lessons more than geography ones. I do know a lot of rivers’ names now.

Anyways, it took me some time to figure out how to manage my finances. In fact, it took time, practical lessons, expensive business school and some good books.

Money’s vanishing act is often caused by the following —

“I’ve used Twitter to attract freelance projects and new clients. I’ve also used it to help boost the visibility of my projects. For example, I was able to secure endorsements from Holly Robinson Peete, Sheryl Underwood, and Yvette Nicole Brown for an advocacy project that I worked on targeting women of color, simply by tweeting them. I’ve been able to get journalists to cover client stories by tweeting them as well. The potential is enormous! It’s my favorite social media platform.” — Ty Mays, owner, Perfect Pitch Public Relations Ty Mays, PR Pro
